Russo-Ukrainian An-140 Goes into Service in February 2002
The first Russo-Ukrainian An-140 airplane, built at the Khar`kov state aviation production enterprise, will be put into service in February 2002 by the OAO Donetsk Airlines Airline /Ukraine/, the Deputy General Director of the Khar`kov aircraft plant, Mikhail Ternov, reported on Monday at a press conference in Krasnoyarsk within the framework of the first Siberian international air and space salon.
As the chief of the marketing department of the Antonov Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex /ANTK/, Aleksandr Kiva, reported, at the present time certification tests of the An-70 are continuing. In according with the results of a tender held this year, the Polet Production Association /Omsk/ has become the general contractor for the manufacture of this airplane.
A. Kiva also noted that the start of the commercial use of the world`s largest freight carrier, the An-225 ``Mriya``, reconstruction of which was completed this year, is planned in the near future.
