Ну дык народ до сих пор недоумевает по поводу 22битового анализа в новом Пентаксе. И некоторые считают, что чем больше битов, тем больше ДД у камеры. Что, понятно, чепуха.

And if you notice, they're making a claim they can't back up. How exactly do you get 4.2 million gradations out of integer values between 0 and 65536? I can't do it, and neither can they.
The only reason I can see to use a 22-bit ADC is that you can get a slightly non-linear 22-bit ADC cheaper than a perfectly linear 16-bit ADC. By using the most linear of the 22 bits you could get a cheaper ADC and a marketing benefit! Woohoo! Engineers and marketeers are both happy. (Actually, I can think of another reason to use 22 bits, but it doesn't apply to this discussion, so I'll leave it off.)"
